Snacks My Kids Actually Like – Part 1 (Car & Home Favorites)
If you’re a parent, you already know this truth: kids are hungry ALL THE TIME. Five minutes after school pickup. Halfway through errands. More like five minutes after you’re finally settled in the car and ready to go. Right after they swore they were “full” and you just finished cleaning up dinner.
I’m always on the hunt for snacks my kids actually want to eat, not just something I offer and then negotiate about. This is the first post in a series I’m starting, sharing snacks my kids actually like, the ones I keep stocked at home, in the car, and everywhere in between.
On busy days, I rely on snacks that are easy for my kids to open themselves, require little to no prep, are mess free, and filling enough to get us through that in between time. One snack that’s been working really well for us lately is Primal Krisp, a kosher protein snack made as crunchy meat chips that feel like a lighter, kid friendly take on beef jerky.

Why This One Works for My Kids
Over the years, I’ve learned that kids don’t care about nutrition labels. They care about texture, flavor, and whether something feels like a real snack.
This one checks those boxes for us: It’s savory and crunchy, not sweet. It feels like a treat, not a “health snack”. No prep, no mess, no crumbs everywhere (this one is a win for me) Easy to eat in the car or at home and keeps them full longer than most grab and go snacks.
As for flavors, my kids definitely have their favorites. They always reach for the 1st Cut Brisket BBQ, Original Chicken, and Texas Heat. I keep a few bags in the car for those moments when everyone suddenly needs a snack right now, and a few more in the pantry for after school or between activities.

A Nice Change from Sweet Snacks
We still enjoy plenty of sweet snacks (trust me, those aren’t going anywhere), but having more kosher protein snacks in the mix makes a big difference for my growing boys, especially on busy days.
These meat chips have been a helpful alternative to:
Another granola bar (does anyone actually want those?)
Crackers that disappear in two minutes
Traditional beef jerky that can feel too tough for kids
Snacks that leave everyone hungry again shortly after
Having something filling on hand means fewer snack requests and a smoother transition to dinner, which I’m always grateful for.
How I Keep It in Rotation
This is one of those snacks I don’t overthink. If I’m restocking the car or organizing the pantry, it goes right in.
If you’re looking to add a savory, high protein kosher snack into your routine, this has been a solid option for our family. You can find more details directly on their site here.
I’ll be sharing more snacks my kids love in upcoming posts, including pantry staples, after school favorites, and easy on the go options, along with some deliciously easy homemade recipes. If you have snacks you and your family love, share them below. I’m always looking for new ideas.
