What’s a good non-alcoholic substitute for dry red wine? ~ Esty Adler Wolbe

There is no great answer for this – as your dish will not come out exactly as it was intended – but as we kosher cooks got used to pareve versions of dairy delicacies – and have even come to love them, here are some suggestions for you to use in equal measures: non-alcoholic wine, beef or chicken stock, red wine vinegar diluted with water, grape juice (red) diluted with red wine vinegar or rice vinegar, tomato juice, liquid from canned mushrooms, plain water.

  • Why can’t someone who doesn’t want the alcohol but wants the taste just cook it up to burn out the alcohol then use the wine
