Happy Hanukkah! Hands down my favorite holiday is Hanukkah. I love everything about the festive 8 days, from powdered jelly donuts to fried latkes. The menorah candles shining bright are the perfect background to sharing wonderful moments with loved ones. I want to celebrate the first day of Hanukkah with a special sweet giveaway. If you follow my blog then you are well aware I have a sweet tooth. If you have ever emailed me, you would know that my status for the last several months (year?) has been “craving a cupcake” and it’s not likely to change anytime soon since yes, I pretty much always want a cupcake. I moved to L.A. about a year ago and discovered the cutest little bakeshop only 2 blocks from my house (yes, I was giddy with excitement upon the discovery!) Sweet E’s Bake Shop features bite sized delicious cupcakes with flavors like banana split, chocolate chip cookie dough (my fav! it inspired my recipe for chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes here) and mexican chocolate churro, strawberries and cream, mint chocolate chip and more. Yes, there are more and all of them are mini cupcakes making them the best choice of dessert since you can easily eat one or two and not feel guilty about the sinfully delicious treats since come on, they are bite sized! As if you needed another reason to check this place out, they also sell cake pops, push pops, brownies, stuffed cookies, whoopie pies and krispie treats. All of Sweet E’s products are certified Kosher under U.S. Kosher Supervision in California. (please note they are not cholov yisorel however they do offer non dairy/vegan products) At this point you probably get why I fell in love with the place. I knew any of their great desserts would make for a great holiday giveaway so I asked them if they would share the sweet love with my fans and they agreed, in fact they said, “We would be happy to give away a dozen of our Holiday Snowflake Cake pops!” so I give to you the “cake pop holiday giveaway”. To enter the giveaway all you need to do is leave a comment below (yup it’s that easy) letting me know which cupcake flavor is your fav! Mine is chocolate chip cookie dough. (although the mexican chocolate churro sounds yummy!) What’s yours?
Since they are located in Los Angeles I am sorry to announce this giveaway is open to L.A. residents only. If you live out of Los Angeles, feel free to enter and give it to a friend of yours in sunny California. Contest open until December 1st, 2013 10pm ET Winner will be announced on our facebook fanpage December 2nd 2013 facebook.com/thekosherkitch
Popular pastry chef Paula Shoyer has published a new cookbook, The Holiday Kosher Baker (Sterling, October 2013). If you recall, I am a huge fan of her previous cookbook, The Kosher Baker (read my review here) I called it, “the bible of dessert cookbooks” for the Kosher eater since it is packed with 160+ non dairy desserts (that are incredibly delicious!) This new book does not disappoint. It has a dessert for every occasion and holiday. Whether it’s guests you want to impress or simply a craving you need to satisfy, Paula has got you covered. I am also extremely impressed that there are over 45 recipes that are Passover friendly treats! The photos are beautifully styled and demand to be eaten. (one delicious bite at a time!) As a sugar junkie I have complied a wish list of sorts with this cookbook. It’s a selection of all of the recipes I want to cook up. A few delicacies from the list are as follows: Babka Bites, Mocha Whisky Chocolate Bread Pudding, Red Velvet Layer Cake, Churros and HomeMade Candy Bars make the top 6 but the list goes on (and on and on!)
Want to win a FREE copy of the cookbook? It’s easy. You have three chances to enter! Do one of the following and leave a comment bellow stating what you did. (if you do all three you will be entered three times just leave a separate comment for each thing you do!)

I run a food blog so it goes without saying that I cook. A lot. I am always stirring something in a pot, mixing ingredients in a bowl or frosting a cake. The spatula is probably one of the least thought about tools in the kitchen. It’s not until you find the right one that you realize the difference it makes to finally be at ease in the kitchen when mixing/frosting/stirring etc. I was looking at my twitter news feed one day when I noticed a photo of a fun looking spatula. I tweeted out my kitchen gadget envy and instantly received a response from the company, Product of GIR, asking me to select my favorite color. It was hard to choose since there are so many fun choices. Take a look HERE. I had them surprise me. Once I received my spatulas in the mail. (pink, blue and green!) I got right to cooking. I loved them so much I asked if I could offer some to my fabulous fans and they said YES! Which means THREE of you will win a brand new spanking spatula! Color of your choice! Want one? It’s EASY! All you need to do is,
This review is long overdue. I have never been this excited about a cookbook before. “Jewish Traditional Cooking” is everything a cookbook should be. It does everything the perfect cookbook should do. The writing is informative. The photos are visually stunning and grab at your appetite and makes you want to get into the kitchen so you could recreate the delicious looking dishes. Ruth Joseph and Simon Round have put together a fantastic journey of Jewish food that leaves you torn between wanting to keep turning the pages and wanting to test out the recipes. They cover the classics such as Meatballs, Potato Kugel, Knishes, Stew and Fish and bring in new flavors with Asparagus and Leek Blintzes with Cheddar Cheese and Vegetable Mixed Grill with Mint and Cilantro Dressing.
My birthday is on Passover so I thought it was only fitting for me to celebrate with a giveaway! Sealed with a Case is sponsoring a festive matzah iphone case for the holiday.
